Bloomsday is the largest timed race in the world, and, as its name indicates, is held every first Sunday in May. The race is held in Spokane and it spans 7.46 miles; its participants train for the stretch all year long. It is quite a spectacle to see the over 50,000 runners take to the racing route and engage in a dramatic competition that not only celebrates the discipline and spirit of athletic competition, it also aptly celebrates Spokane's undeniable community spirit.

Basketball lovers in Spokane (and from around the world) hoop it up every last weekend in June for Hoopfest. This fun and highly anticipated festival was established in 1989 and is the largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament in the world. Participants can range from everyone from kids to NBA players. The event attracts more than 40,000 people every year.
